Party Wall Surveys

What are Party Wall Surveys?

A Party Wall is situated on the land boundary, typically between two (occasionally more) different properties. Some of the most common examples of Party Walls include those that separate semi-detached or terraced houses. Also included are the barriers that make up the boundary between gardens, commonly referred to as party fence walls. If you are planning on undertaking works that could affect a neighbouring building, you must adhere to the guidelines in The Party Wall Act.

The Party Wall Act was passed in 1996 and applied to houses in England and Wales. It was given to prevent building work from being undertaken that could compromise the structural integrity of any shared wall (party wall) or adjoining properties. Notices and agreements may be required between the affected homeowners.

Form Consulting can provide professional guidance and advice on your next steps in getting a Party Wall Survey.
